Very Important Pet Parent Spotlight

Bill & Vonda Palmer, Koda, Bruce, Clarence, Charlie, Lily & Rosie

What brought you to Florida?
Bill’s job with Home Depot brought us to Florida. After living in Georgia for 14 years and raising our family there we were sad to leave but looking forward to the adventure! Ponte Vedra Beach has proven to be beautiful and welcoming.

Have you always had pets?
Yes! I grew up on a farm in New York and have always loved animals! Bill was raised with cats but I was able to talk him into training 2 beautiful yellow lab puppies while raising our 2 beautiful kids! The kids stopped at 2 but the dogs and cats kept on filling our hearts and home!

Please introduce us to your Fur Family. How did you meet and become FURever companions?
KodaKoda, 13, Shepard/Chow – The day after Thanksgiving 12 years ago we went to PetSmart for turtle food (we had a red-eared slider named Speedy) and came home with Koda but no turtle food! She is the Queen of the house!

Clarence & BruceBruce (Siamese) & Clarence (Black) 8, brother & sister kitties. Our daughter, Taylor and I found them under a friend’s porch. Their Mama went missing so they came home with us. They have such character… Bruce loves his cashmere belly rubbed while he’s upside down and Clarence loves to play fetch!

Charlie, 6, Lab/Hound – Bill & the kids gave Charlie to me for a birthday gift. They went to PetSmart for cat food (do you see the pattern here?…) He is the Charliesweetest, most loving, happy boy ever! He would rather be the only dog in the house which proves to be challenging but because we are who we are we all make it work with our love for Charlie!

LilyLily, 5, Blue Heeler/PitBull – Lily arrived at our house via, yup…a trip to PetSmart while I was out of town and Bill was left alone at home. Just an FYI…Bill is no longer allowed go to PetSmart. Lily is all high energy with the sweetest disposition ever! Her sweet, baby seal face literally gets her out of trouble every single time!

When we moved to Florida we also had Rosie, 18, toy poodle – she passed in April and it was the Rosiesaddest thing ever. I found her on the side of the road about 7 years ago. She was most likely dropped in a nice neighborhood by the puppy mill breeders when she couldn’t have puppies anymore. She was a perfect addition to our family. I miss her terribly!

What do you love most about your pets?
We love how much our babies love us! They all greet us at the door when we come home, even the cats, with happy faces and wiggly butts! Charlie brings us one of his favorite toys, Lily’s butt does not stop wagging, Koda’s little face is one of pure happiness and the cats talk and follow us until we say hello!

How has 9 to 5 Pets made your life easier? What do your pets enjoy the most from our service?
Oh. My. Goodness. 9 to 5 Pets has made our lives easier, happier and worry free!! Being new to the area with so many pets and our love to travel we struck gold when I found 9 to 5 Pets! Our babies love each and everyone of their new friends that come to take care of them.

What are your favorite activities you share with your pet?
Walking on the beach is one of our favorites but snuggling in bed or on the couch watching tv is always wonderful as well. Lily would say playing ball in the back yard is her favorite!

Share a fond memory with your pet:
All memories with all of our babies are fond ones.

What life lessons have you learned from your Fur Family?
To trust your instincts… not everyone is a friend…

If you had to wear a T-Shirt with one word on it for a year, what word would you choose?
Breathe

If you could instantly become an expert in something what would it be?
Relaxing…

What is the best gift anyone has ever given to you?
I’d have to say my most favorite gift ever was Charlie as my birthday gift… who would want anything but my sweet, sweet boy as a gift!
